The Boston Celtics extended their lead in the NBA Finals on Monday night, defeating the Dallas Mavericks 106-99 in Game 3 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. With the win, the Celtics now hold a commanding 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.The Celtics were led by Jayson Tatum, who scored 29 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Jaylen Brown added 27 points, while Marcus Smart chipped in with 18 points and 10 assists.
The Mavericks were led by Luka Doncic, who finished with a triple-double of 32 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. However, Doncic was not able to get enough help from his teammates, as Kristaps Porzingis was held to just 13 points and Tim Hardaway Jr. finished with 11 points.
The Celtics took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Mavericks 33-23. Boston led by as many as 17 points in the second half, and the Mavericks were never able to close the gap.
The series now shifts to Boston for Game 4 on Wednesday night. The Celtics will be looking to close out the series and win their 18th NBA championship, while the Mavericks will be looking to avoid a sweep and extend the series to a fifth game.
