Ricardo Nunes' secretary uses public machine and campaigns in social housing delivery
The secretary of Infrastructure and Urban Works of the City of São Paulo, Marcos Monteiro, was filmed using a public machine to campaign for the re-election of Mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB) in the delivery of popular housing in the Graja neighborhood, in the South Zone of São Paulo, last Saturday (27).
In the video, Monteiro appears with a vest that has images of Nunes and the number 15, which is the candidate's number in the election.
The secretary is responsible for the construction of popular housing in the city of São Paulo. The event in Graja was attended by families who were being handed over the keys to their new homes.
The use of public machines and personnel for electoral campaigning is prohibited by electoral law.
In a statement, the City of São Paulo said that "it does not endorse the use of public machines and personnel for electoral campaigning" and that "it is investigating the facts to take the appropriate measures."
Monteiro has not yet commented on the case.
